Turco makes 5 bet with Canadiens fan
According to a Montreal Canadiens season ticket-holder, Marty Turco and a fan engaged in a little wagering during the Blackhawks' loss to Montreal on Tuesday.
The fan said he bet Turco 5 that the Blackhawks wouldn't score after Canadiens took a 1-0 lead in the second period. After Chicago tied it, the fan gave Turco a 5 Canadian bill with the words "Habs Rule" written on it.
As the game continued, the bet apparently increased that the Canadiens would win the game. After Montreal scored in overtime, Turco allegedly handed over some bills, including the original with the word "Habs" crossed off and "Turco" added so it read "Turco Rules." (ChicagoBreakingSports.com)
Lebron buys stake in Liverpool club
Lebron James is joining forces with one of the world's most renowned teams. According to the Wall Street Journal, the basketball star puchased a minority interest in the soccer club Liverpool. Fenway Sports Group owns the team, in addition to the Boston Red Sox, and is partnering with Mr. James's sports-marketing firm, LRMR Branding & Marketing.

NIU LB in critical condition after shooting
Theres very sobering news coming out of DeKalb this afternoon as its being reported that a starting member of the Northern Illinois football team is hospitalized following a shooting Tuesday night.
According to the DeKalb Daily Chronicle, and confirmed by the school, NIU linebacker Devon Butler was shot during an incident in a DeKalb apartment building last night and is listed in critical condition as of late Wednesday morning. Police officials told the paper that they have two suspects in custody, but details of what led to the shooting arent clear at this time. (CollegeFootballTalk.com)
