Tony Campana thwarts seagull attack

If Tony Campana ever hangs up his spikes, he may have found a new calling as an actor in a horror movie.

Seagulls descended upon Wrigley Field late in Sunday's ballgame and swarmed Campana as he tried to play center field. Apparently some dumb fan threw a piece of pizza at the Cubs outfielder and the seagulls saw it as a chance to strike.

"I had to kick it away from me so the birds didn't eat me," Campana told Cubs.com's Carrie Muskat. "They were all around me today."

Campana said he's seen Alfred Hitchcock's horror "The Birds" and laughed at the thought.

"They're all over the place out there," he said. "They get close to me, too. They aren't real scared of me. It's all fun."

Yeah, it's all fun and games until a pack of them swoop down and pick up the 5-foot-8, 165-pound outfielder and fly away with him.
