The Bears hold the 19th pick in the first round of this years draft. Maybe what theyre looking for is someone who knows how to use exactly that spot for exactly what theyre after.

But they may need to move sooner rather than later.

Ryan Grigson, director of player personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles, is on the interview list for the Bears vacant GM job, Adam Schefter over at ESPN is tweeting. Adam reports that Grigson also will interview with the St. Louis Rams.

Grigson, a Purdue graduate, was involved in 2009 when the Eagles selected speed receiverreturner Jeremy Maclin. The Bears No. 1 need area going into this offseason: wideout.

The No. 19 pick in the 2010 draft belonged to the Atlanta Falcons. They selected Sean Witherspoon. An outside linebacker. A Bears target area.

In the Falcons front office making that pick was Les Snead, the Atlantas director of player personnel, is a name on the Bears candidate list. But he also has permission to interview with the Rams and Indianapolis Colts, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Bears search is clearly focusing on individuals from teams with successful draft histories rather than GM retreads. At this point. There is competition for the top prospects and that projects to fast action, as in the Oakland hiring of Green Bays Reggie McKenzie, who CSNChicago.com sources say was the top name on the Bears list.
