Flyers, Weber make headlines with offer sheet

Once Zach Parise and Ryan Suter committed to Minnesota, all eyes have been on Shea Weber and Shane Doan in what has felt like the never-ending quest of where the two will play next season.

On Wednesday morning, an update on Weber became an instant headliner.

TSN first reported the Philadelphia Flyers have signed the star defenseman to a 14-year offer sheet worth 100 million.

The Predators now have seven days to match Philadelphia's offer. If they decide against keeping Weber, they will receive four first-round draft picks from the Flyers.

Should Nashville decline to match within the next week, this will be the first time Weber plays for another NHL team other than the Predators. Weber scored 19 goals and 30 assists in 78 games played last season as the team's captain. He recorded three goal and one assist in six matchups against the Blackhawks throughout the regular season.
