Jeremy Morin is playing the patience game. He really doesnt have much of a choice.

The forward hasnt played hockey since suffering a concussion against the Chicago Wolves in January. But after skating on Sunday, Morin could be getting closer to full contact and scrimmages again.

Well see how he progresses, coach Joel Quenneville said. The fact that hes out there is a good sign.

Morin skated in two practice sessions but remained out of scrimmages at the Blackhawks second day of training camp. Morin said hes not frustrated, but hed nevertheless like to be back to full contact as soon as possible.

I havent played in a while and I just want to get back. But right now Im just worried about getting healthy, Morin said. Im going to try to make the team, but being 100 percent is what Im focusing on right now.

And considering how long Morins been dealing with the concussion issues, that has to be the ultimate focus. Concussion talk was high all summer, especially with Sidney Crosby still suffering repercussions from his. Like Morin, Crosby hasnt played hockey since January, either.

Im still trying to work things out, but Im feeling pretty good right now, said Morin. (The repercussions) all take different times to heal. I couldnt predict that; Im just doing what I can. Im just talking to the doctors and trying to get back. I felt good out there so that was a positive.

Morin was a standout last training camp and was one of the final cuts entering the regular season. He was called up a few times, and fellow Blackhawks were impressed with his play and mettle. But he had a few injuries last season, with the concussion ending last season prematurely.

So Morin probably wont have that breakout preseason this fall. But his health comes first. Morins willing to be patient. For his present and futures sake, its worth it.

Itll take care of itself, he said. All I can do is what Im allowed to do.
