Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas confirmed Sunday morning that he is in fact taking a year off from playing in the NHL. But don't worry, a quick sales pitch was thrown in to reaffirm the 38-year old goaltender will stay in shape, leaving the possibility of a return in 2013.
Thomas announced his break on Facebook, saying "it is time to put my time and energies into those areas and relationships that I have neglected... Friends, family, and faith."
Unlike Nicklas Lidstrom's full-page thank you letter to Red Wings fans and the rest of the hockey world for all their support throughout his 20-year career, Thomas' announcement quickly became about endorsements and personal products.

"I will continue to train using ARPPOV system and work with G-Form in the development of protective equipment," he added.
After being eliminated by the Washington Capitals, avoiding a visit to the White House, and shooting a credit card commercial, Thomas was ready to go. But his timing seems odd considering his age and the fact the upcoming season is the final one remaining on his contract.
My guess is Thomas will hang up his skates for good.
