WITH EXTENSIVE COVERAGE OF “CHICAGO MATCH CUP” WEEK

Comcast SportsNet to carry two-hour coverage of the finals on Sun, Aug. 11 at 4:30 PM

Chicago, IL (July 31, 2013) -- Comcast SportsNet, the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox, will showcase many of the world’s best match race sailors with its week-long coverage of Chicago Match Race Center’s (CMRC) “Chicago Match Cup,” the only U.S. stop on the Alpari World Match Racing Tour.

Beginning Wednesday, August 7 at 10:00 AM CT, Comcast SportsNet’s digital outlet -- CSNChicago.com -- will LIVE STREAM this unique, yet grueling sporting event for five-straight days on the beautiful waters of Lake Michigan, alongside the magnificent Tall Ships Festival. More than 100 match races will be sailed right of Navy Pier’s East End as 12 teams compete in head-to-head competition similar to the America’s Cup.

For full daily schedule details, fans are urged to visit CSNChicago.com or ChicagoCup.org.

On Sunday, August 11 at 4:30 PM (following White Sox baseball coverage), Comcast SportsNet will provide sailing fans with a two-hour special, chronicling the event’s “finals” held earlier in the day. The top teams will battle it out to earn their share of the $100,000 grand prize purse and points will be earned toward the Tour’s overall World Championship, worth $1.75 million in prize money – the richest prize in the sailing world.

Over a million spectators are expected to attend the week-long event at Navy Pier, which will feature the #2-ranked skipper in the world, U.S. Virgin Islands superstar Taylor Canfield. Canfield, who is also the current sailing director at Chicago Match Race Center, and his crew finished first overall in the 2012 Gold Cup & Monsoon Cup and fourth overall in the 2012 Chicago Match Cup.

Comcast SportsNet’s SportsNet Central (6:30 PM, 10:00 PM, 10:30 PM and midnight) will provide nightly updates/highlights from the event beginning August 7 featuring interviews with skippers and Chicago Match Race Center execs, including an extended feature airing on August 8 at 10:30 PM.
