Chicago, IL (April 2, 2013) – Comcast SportsNet, the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox, delivered huge television ratings yesterday (April 1) for the first day of its 45-game pro event telecast schedule in April, which featured a new White Sox “Season Opener” TV ratings record -- a 3.42 household rating for its live coverage of the team’s AL Central home field battle against the Kansas City Royals.

For yesterday’s thrilling 1-0 shutout win that featured White Sox ace Chris Sale, Comcast SportsNet attracted approx. 119,180 households for the entire game and scored a 4.12 peak rating during the 4:00 PM quarter-hour (over 143,570 households). The 3.42 household rating is the highest White Sox “season opener” game rating in Chicago regional sports network television history (previous high on April 7, 2009 vs. Kansas City - 3.23 household rating on Comcast SportsNet). Source for all ratings information is provided by Nielsen Media Research overnights.

Comcast SportsNet was also the #1-highest rated television network in the Chicago market yesterday afternoon for the entire length of the game (3:00-6:00 PM) in a variety of key advertising demos, including Adults 25-54.

In addition, Comcast SportsNet also carried the Blackhawks 3-2 shootout win vs. the division rival Nashville Predators last evening, giving the network a total viewing audience of over 326,000 Chicago market TV households between the two live pro event telecasts. Plus, during the eight and a half hour time period of 3:00-11:30 PM, Comcast SportsNet was the #1 overall highest-rated network in the Chicago market in the demo categories of Men 18-34, Men 18-49, Men 25-54 & Adults 18-34.

Comcast SportsNet’s biggest month to date continues TONIGHT as the Bulls travel to face the Washington Wizards at 6:00 PM and the network will air its first Cubs telecast of the 2013 MLB season TOMORROW NIGHT at the division rival Pittsburgh Pirates (6:00 PM first pitch).
