The Cubs had several players make big contributions Tuesday in Mesas 6-5 victory against the Peoria Javelinas.
Josh Vitters RBI single in the ninth gave the Solar Sox a 6-4 advantage. He finished with a pair of hits in five at-bats, raising his batting average to .261 through five games. Ryan Flaherty, meanwhile, had a hit in two at-bats, drew three walks and scored twice.
David Cales pitched two scoreless innings to earn his first victory. He allowed a pair of hits and fanned one. Jake Muyco, who split the regular season between Tennessee and Iowa, started. He allowed a run on four hits over three innings in what was his second start.
Peoria Saguaros White Sox
Jared Mitchell extended his hitting streak to three games on Tuesday in Peorias 7-3 loss at Phoenix.
Mitchell had a pair of hits, pushing his average to .304. He has four hits in 10 at-bats during the streak. Eduardo Escobar was 1-for-4 with a walk and now has four hits in his last eight at-bats. Henry Mabee was hit hard for a second consecutive outing, allowing three runs on four hits and walk in one inning. Mabee, who pitched to a 3.65 ERA during the regular season with Double-A Birmingham, has given up eight runs on nine hits over three innings.
