DePaul freshman DeJuan Marrero announced on Twitter today he tore his ACL and will miss the entire season.

I want to apologize to my people back home. I tore my ACL last night in practice. I'm going to sit out this season and get a full recovery.

I was really looking forward to this season and helping my team progress and win. I'm going to keep moving forward and think positive.

The Gary, Ind., native was expected to be part of the Blue Demons' rotation in 2012, giving depth on the wing and improving Oliver Purnell's groups rebounding numbers.

Marrero averaged 22.2 points and 15.4 rebounds his senior year at Thea Bowman High School and chose DePaul over Ball State, Dayton, Iowa, Missouri and Missouri State. He committed in August 2011.

The Blue Demons have six freshman and seven newcomers on this year's team, including freshmen Durrell McDonald and Jordan Price.
