If you have old, broken or unused electronics around your home, Earth Day presents an opportunity to get rid of them.

Such items could be considered e-waste, which includes household and business appliciances with power or battery supplies.

On Earth Day, April 22, several e-waste drop-off locations will be located throughout the Chicago area. Representatives will accept electronics such as computers, monitors, hard copy devices, keyboards and mice, TVs, and mobile devices, as well as batteries and appliances like microwaves, refrigerators and dishwashers. White styrofoam (no peanuts) and wood pallets, which must be intact, will also be collected

Glass or light bulbs will not be accepted.

The first 100 participants who drop off e-waste materials at each location will receive a branded t-shirt made from recycled material. Everyone who stops by will also receive a gift certificate for 10 percent off their next visit to Abt.
