The 6th annual Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series kicks off in Chicago this weekend.
The two-day running event will start and finish in Grant Park, taking runners through some of Chicago's most historic landmarks.
Shalane Flanagan, who captured the bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 10,000 M, dropped by the AT&T U-verse Lounge on Friday afternoon to preview this weekend's race.
"It's a big celebration of running," Flanagan told CSN's David Kaplan. "It's very rare that runners can take over the streets of Chicago. I'm excited to hopefully be leading at the front, but I'll be there at the finish supporting people.
"For a lot of people the 5K is going to be a challenge. Then you make the steps towards the bigger goal which is the half marathon. There's a sense of accomplishment. It's really fulfilling for the training and also just being able to finish 13.1 miles."
