Los Angeles Dodgers outfield Carl Crawford couldn't help thinking back to his own experiences as he watched Chicago's Morgan Park neighborhood come up short of reaching Williamsport, Pa. in last year's Little League World Series.

Crawford grew up playing for an all-black team in Houston, and after seeing the efforts from those kids last season, hoped to offer the team some financial support.

Now, one year later, that team from the Jackie Robinson West league made it to the big stage, and Crawford will be watching.

Crawford has yet to meet with any of the players from the Jackie Robinson West team, but checks in with the coaches periodically, according to Yahoo's report.

The Little League World Series kicks off on Thursday, and the Jackie Robinson league team will be taking the field at 2 o'clock CT.
