NEW YORK (AP) Leading scorer Brook Lopez returned to the Brooklyn Nets' starting lineup on Friday against Detroit after missing seven games with a sprained right foot.
Coach Avery Johnson says he expects Lopez to play about half the game, then the Nets will evaluate their center before determining if he will play Saturday night at Chicago.
Lopez was leading the Nets with 18.5 points per game when he was hurt in a victory at Boston on Nov. 28. The Nets were 2-5 in his absence.
Johnson says the Nets have taken every precaution and that ``now it's time for him to get out on the court and play and try to get him back to where he was prior to his injury.''
Guard Jerry Stackhouse is out with a sore right knee.
