Global Golf Adventure and NBC/Golf Channel analyst Mark Rolfing will be in Chicago for their newest episode.
Global Golf Adventure on NBC Sports features Rolfing traveling the globe in search of exciting and unique golf and travel destinations.
In this newest episode, Rolfing, a DeKalb native, showcases why Chicago is such a special place including the sights, sounds and people of the Windy City.
“I was born and raised just outside of Chicago and it seems now, the more I travel around the world, the more I gravitate back to my roots,” said Rolfing. “During this show, I will show you some of the reasons Chicago is such a special place to me and to those that call it home.”
The 30-minute program will include interviews with two very recognizable Chicago personalities; former world No. 1 golfer Luke Donald and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Donald played collegiate golf at Northwestern University and now resides in the Chicago area with his family. During their interview, Donald shares with Rolfing what he enjoys about Chicago, his connections to the city dating back to his time at Northwestern, the area’s golf courses, sports teams and iconic sports venues.
“I love the people, I love the culture, I love the fact that my wife’s (from) there and she has all her family there," said Donald. "My coach is there. I love the fact that there are so many great classic golf courses. The list goes on and on really, and it’s a place I’ve felt very comfortable living in.”
Also in this episode, Mayor Emanuel discusses as what he describes as "the best job I have ever had in public life," and also what he likes about Chicago.
“It has a natural beauty, it has the beauty of its people, and while there’s a common phrase 'think locally, act globally' Chicago is a global city built on neighborhoods," Emanuel said. "And mind you it captures, what is going on around the world today…it’s the most livable big city in America, in my view.”
The Global Golf Adventure-Chicago episode will also take a brief look at the history of Chicago golf, and will feature the music of one of the City's finest Blues musicians Wayne Baker Brooks.
It airs Saturday, March 30 at 1:30 pm on NBC, prior to the network’s live third round coverage of the Shell Houston Open.
