Stan Bowman might be losing a valuable piece to his front office as assistant general manager Marc Bergevin hinted to LaPresse.ca that he has interviewed for the general manager job with the Montreal Canadiens.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported last week that the Canadiens had asked permission to speak with Bergevin in early April.
Bergevin just completed his seventh season in the Blackhawks front office. He began as a scout before serving as an assistant coach in 2008. In 2009, he became the team's Director of Player Personnel. He replaced Kevin Cheveldayoff as assistant general manager this season when Cheveldayoff took the GM position with the Winnipeg Jets.
