The Chicago-based sailing team “U.S. One” claimed that distinction after their win at the Chicago Match Cup in early August.
Though sometimes tough to follow a Match Cup race, the final stage in Chicago surely captured the attention of viewers watching live on television worldwide, as well as spectators along Navy Pier on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Helmsman Taylor Canfield, who lives in Chicago during the offseason, lead the team to the win after a torn spinnaker and a penalty in their favor after a bump from the Australian team. This team of very likable guys is poised for dominance in the Alpari World Tour, which has 2 matches left in the season.
