The Cubs have placed infielder Luis Valbuena on the 15-day disabled list due to a right oblique strain.

Starting in place of Valbuena today against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field is Logan Watkins.

Watkins was the Cubs' 2012 Minor League Player of the Year with Tennessee and has spent the 2013 season with Triple-A Iowa. He has batted .243 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 107 games with Iowa.
