Cubs to reach out to VCU and Butler coaches

Who knew NCAA Final Four coaches were such talented singers? The Chicago Cubs plan to reach out to VCU coach Shaka Smart and Butler coach Brad Stevens after the NCAA tournament to invite them to sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley Field.

Smart attended Cubs games as a child with his grandfather. He also called Chicago a kind of "second home" for him.

Smart is under the impression that he may have to win to earn an invite to throw out a first pitch or sing at Wrigley. (ESPNChicago.com)

Ex-mistress says Bonds threatened to kill her

Barry Bonds' former mistress Kimberly Bell took the witness stand for the prosecution in the trial against Bonds, who is accused of four counts of making false statements and one of obstruction for telling a federal grand jury in 2003 that he never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs.

Bell choked up as she recalled Bonds once threatening "to cut my head off and leave me in a ditch." The defense portrayed Bell as an unreliable witness, looking to capitalize on her affair with Bonds.

Bell also said that Bonds talked about the widespread use of steroids among baseball players. (AP)

Is Prior headed to opening day for Yankees?

The former Cub who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2006 wasn't expected to receive big-league consideration, but he could be headed Yankee Stadium on opening day. Mark Prior is being considered to replace Pedro Feliciano for the Opening Day roster of the New York Yankees.

Prior has made eight appearances, allowing only three hits and one earned run, striking out 11 and walking 5. (Chicago Breaking Sports)

United Airlines to advertise on Wrigley rooftop

The Cubs announced that United Airlines has bought the rights to advertise on the rooftop, a highly visible sign across the street from Wrigley Field. The Horseshoe casino in Indiana had advertised on the rooftop the last few seasons.

The Cubs do not own the rooftop. Last season, the Cubs put a giant sign featuring Toyota's logo behind the left-field bleachers that partially blocked the Horseshoe rooftop ad. (Chicago Breaking Business)
