White Sox adament Quentin not on trading block
Reports had surfaced that the White Sox were shopping Carlos Quentin in search of relief help, but general manager Kenny Williams denied that speculation.
"Absolutely incorrect" was how Williams labeled rumors about Quentin, who earned 3.2 million and is eligible for salary arbitration this winter. "It has been written that we're 'shopping' Carlos Quentin. That's a lie.
"Three teams asked about him (at the winter meetings), and I have not had one single conversation with anyone since. We'll add to our relief pitching without (trading) him."
Williams admits he needs one or two relievers to round out his team and a trade could occur soon, but it will not involve subtracting from the lineup. (chicagotribune.com)
