Starlin Castro has been one of the few consistent bright spots for the Cubs the past two-plus seasons.
The 22-year-old shortstop is up for arbitration after this season, thanks to his Super Two status, which means since he was called up early in his rookie year, his service clock started earlier and his arbitration year comes earlier.
That would make sense, then, for the Cubs to sign him to a long-term extension now rather than go through the arbitration process for four straight seasons.

While that would normally be of interest to Castro, who is currently making 567K, he doesn't want to talk a long-term deal in the middle of the season, according to his agent.
This will likely be a hot topic in the offseason as the new Cubs front office looks to build around Castro.
