Cubs top prospect Javier Baez, who has been playing in the Arizona Fall League, may miss the rest of the fall after injuring his thumb.
He is undergoing tests Monday to determine if he has a broken tip of his thumb.
He is considered an elite prospect and is ranked as one of the Top 50 players in minor league baseball.

The 19-year-old Baez, who was the Cubs No. 1 pick in 2011, starred at Class A Peoria this summer, hitting .333 with 12 home runs before being promoted to High A Daytona where he struggled batting .188 in 23 games.
The Cubs have had him playing both shortstop (his natural position) and third base where he may move due to the presence of Starlin Castro. In action with the Mesa Solar Sox, he is hitting .211 but he leads the team with four home runs.
Scouts covering the Fall League project him as an impact player at the major league level but believe he is at least two years away from the big leagues.
