An update on John Danks

As the White Sox open their second consecutive series against a fellow first-place team in the American League, one Chicago player has grown tired of having to watch from the shadows.

Righthander John Danks remains on the disabled list with a left shoulder strain. He has no time table for his return to the White Sox rotation, leaving him understandably frustrated.

Im chomping at the bit and getting impatient now, Danks said Tuesday prior to Chicagos series opener against Texas at U.S. Cellular Field. I've been on the DL long enough and it's been kind of the same thing every day. I'm ready to just start playing.

Danks addressed reporters prior to seeing the team doctors, but after he had a cortisone shot in his shoulder.

I'm doing okay, he said. I played catch today and itd been a few days. I came in here and got a cortisone shot and so, hopefully, that will kick in and I'll get back to actually playing baseball. This DL stuff is getting old.

Danks, who has been on the DL since May 25, said the soreness in his shoulder is improving, which is the only positive he could find through this ordeal.

From everything I've been told I should be getting close (to returning), he said. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We're doing everything we know to do. We're just kind of at the mercy of my shoulder now. We're going to keep working hard. That way I can hit the ground running whenever I do get healthy. Hopefully that's in time to help us win the division.
