Francisco Liriano initially looked sharp in his first home start with the White Sox, striking out four and allowing two hits through the first four innings of his outing Sunday afternoon against the Angels.
But after a sharp grounder off the bat of Macier Izturis struck his leg in the fifth, he lost some effectiveness and allowed a run on a Mike Trout sacrifice fly.
White Sox trainer Herm Schneider came out twice in the fifth to check on Liriano, and after the top half of the inning was done, so was Liriano. He exited the game with what was ruled a right quadriceps contusion and threw just 72 pitches.

However, all parties involved don't think the injury is serious.
"I was really sore and cramping a little bit," Liriano said. "I think Ill be okay for my next start.
"He seems fine," added manager Robin Ventura. "It got right him right in the leg just right above the knee, so it was in the muscle. It started to cramp up on him so it was just a precaution, taking him out and making sure he's going to be all right."
While Ventura said before Sunday's game he hasn't set the White Sox rotation for next weekend's series against Oakland, Liriano wouldn't be scheduled to pitch again until next Sunday as long as no other starter is pushed back.
