Despite not selecting a high school player with their first-round pick in the MLB Draft since 2001, Chicago took outfielder Courtney Hawkins (13th) and first baseman Keon Barnum with the 48th overall selection in the supplemental part of the first-round.

Now, it appears Barnum will be the first one to ink his contract of the duo. According to the Tampa Bay Times, the 19-year-old will be flying to Arizona on Monday for his physical and if he passes, he will officially sign with the White Sox and forgo his scholarship to the University of Miami.

During Barnum's senior season, he batted .417 with five home runs, five doubles, 27 runs scored and 15 RBI. Barnum has drawn MLB comparisons to Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard due in large part to his 6'5, 225-pound frame.

The slotted bonus for the 48th overall pick is 1,052,500.
