NEW YORKBulls starting point guard Kirk Hinrich didnt participate in the teams Friday morning shootaround at Madison Square Garden due to his injured right elbow, which he suffered during Mondays home win over Cleveland and caused him to miss Wednesdays loss to Milwaukee at the United Center.
Im doing better, so well see how it goes, Hinrich said. Im not going to participate this morning. Im just going to watch and evaluate it before the game.
I landed on my elbow and popped my bursa sac. Its just one of those things, the risk of the infection there. Its still much better. Ive had it wrapped it up for a few days, he continued, explaining how the injury occurred against the Cavaliers, while diving for a loose ball. I dont know what the actual diagnosis of it is. I know that they were real worried about it becoming infected. Its real common for that injury to become infected, so thats what I think is their main concern.
Its been a grind. Had a lot of stuff kind of not go my way, as far as injuries. Been nicked up, but just aside from that, I feel like weve been playing good basketball and every chance I can to get out there, I want to be able to get out there and see how it goes.
Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau was typically vague about Hinrichs status.
Hes doing fine. Hes still day-to-day. Well see tonight, the coach said before the Bulls shootaround. Hes better than he was Wednesday.
Hinrich has had six separate ailments this season, including his knee, hip, groin, thumb and left elbow. Backup point guard Nate Robinson will likely start in his place if he cant suit up Friday.
