DEERFIELD, ILL.Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich was diagnosed with a bruised left knee after undergoing an MRI, according to Tom Thibodeau.

After the teams practice Friday at the Berto Center, the Bulls head coach said Hinrich, who didnt participate in the session was day-to-day, but could still play in Saturdays home game against the Brooklyn Nets.

He could play Saturday, Thibodeau said. Hes a lot better today.

Hinrich injured his knee at some point during the Bulls home loss Tuesday to the Clippers. The veteran sat out of Wednesdays road win at Philadelphia and wasnt available for comment after that game or Fridays practice, the teams first media availability since the aftermath of the victory over the 76ers.

Hinrich wouldnt commit to who would start against Brooklyn. Backup point guard Nate Robinson has started during Hinrichs various injury-related absences this season, but after 19-year-old rookie Marquis Teague played well in Philadelphia and closed out the narrow win.

Thibodeau would only say, Possibly, when asked if Robinson would start Saturdays contest and then stated, He could be, in response to a question about whether Teague was under consideration as a starter.
