DEERFIELD, ILL.Following the Bulls Sunday afternoon practice at the Berto Center, prior to the teams departure for Memphis, Kirk Hinrich again confirmed that he plans to play Monday night against the Grizzlies, as reported by CSNChicago.com Saturday night.
Im feeling better. Ive made some good progress, continue to treat it and hopefully Ill be ready to go, said Hinrich, a full participant in the practice session. I do plan on playing. The way it felt today, I plan on it.
Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau concurred: Well see. Well see how he responds. He looked good, though.
Thibodeau added that he definitely plans to start Hinrich in Memphis, unless he has a setback after Monday mornings shootaround.
Hinrich shed light on how the injury, which happened in Tuesday nights home loss to the Clippers, occurred.
It happened in the third quarter. I banged knees with Clippers point guard Chris Paul. It seemed like a normal bruised knee, the veteran point guard recounted. Once I got on the airplane following the game for the Bulls trip to Philadelphia, it just started bothering me all around the knee. It started swelling up. It was really swollen and its just been hurting since.
Thibodeau also provided a brief update on sidelined shooting guard Rip Hamilton, who is out with a torn left plantar fascia.
Hes doing more and more each day, the coach said of the Bulls starting shooting guard, who was shooting with an assistant coach after media availability began. Hes still day-to-day.
