Report: Bulls shopping Rip Hamilton

Richard Hamilton was the biggest acquisition by the Bulls last offseason. Less than one year later, could he join a growing list of departures?

According to the Chicago Tribune, league sources have said that the Bulls are shopping Hamilton and his expiring 5 million contract. However, there have been no takers at this point.

The Bulls roster has already seen quite a bit of change after trading Kyle Korver to the Atlanta Hawks and letting C.J. Watson sign with the New Jersey Nets. Ronnie Brewer won't be returning and John Lucas III remains a free agent. Meanwhile, center Omer Asik could land in Houston if the Bulls don't match an offer sheet from the Rockets.

Yahoo's Marc J. Spears reported that the Bulls have shown an interest in signing shooting guard O.J. Mayo, and if that were to occur, a trade of Hamilton would free up more playing time for Mayo.

In an injury-filled 2011-12 season, Hamilton averaged 11.6 points on 45.2 percent shooting in 28 games.
