Sedrick Ellis failed to report to practice Thursday morning, and a new job quickly opened within the Bears organization as the defensive tackle told the team he intends to retire. But it didn't take long for that position to be filled.
Shortly after the news about Ellis became known, the Bears signed Jamaal Anderson to a one-year contract.
Anderson was drafted eighth overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2007 and went on to spend one year with the Colts. He was most recently signed by the Bengels in March of 2012, but was released by the team just over two weeks ago.
Anderson played in just two games last year after undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a quadriceps injury.
