The Chicago Bears High School Coach of the Week and Player of the Week results for Week 4 are in, awarding Mt. Carmel Coach Frank Lenti and Gordon Techs Julian Russell with the honors.

With a 62-8 win over St. Joseph last Saturday, Coach Lenti became Illinois all-time winningest high school football coach and also earned his 307th career win.

In 25 years of leading Mt. Carmel, Lentis teams have averaged eleven wins and two losses a season. They have won nine state championships in 14 appearances and have qualified for the IHSA playoffs every season that he has been the head coach.

Coach Lenti supported his team in collecting 2,000 pounds of clothing in a drive for the Epilepsy Foundation last spring. He was honored as a Bears Coach of the Week honoree in 2001 also for his coaching accomplishments.

In addition to Lenti, all eyes focused on quarterback Julian Russell who accounted for six touchdowns, two passing and four rushing, and ran for 125 yards as he led Gordon Tech to a 45-44 overtime win over conference rival, Halas Franciscan.

This victory gave the Rams their third win of the season, which surpasses Gordon Techs win total of two from the 2010 season.

The Bears will donate 1,500 to Mt. Caramel High Schools football program in honor of coach Lenti, who will also receive a framed certificate and will have the opportunity to attend a Bears practice and chalk-talk with Head Coach Lovie Smith. Another 1,000 will be donated to a youth football program of Russells choice.

Lenti will be invited to the Bears December 18 game and recognized in an on-field ceremony. Russell will have the same recognition at the game on December 4.

Since the programs inception, the Bears have donated over 198,000 to Illinois high schools in support of their football programs. For more information, log on to www.chicagobears.comcommunity or call the Chicago Bears Community Relations department at (847) 739-5308.
