The Bears needed a hand from the Ravens in their chase for the NFC North crown.
Instead, they got a foot.
Ravens kicker Justin Tucker made six field goals to account for all 18 of Baltimore's points in Monday night's 18-16 win over the Lions, including the game-winning field goal from 61 yards away with 38 seconds left in the game.
Detroit's loss left the Bears all alone in first place in NFC North, snapping a tie in which the Lions held the tiebreaker thanks to a pair of head-to-head victories against the Bears. Now, the Bears control their own destiny, and wins in the final two games of the season against the Eagles and Packers will win them the NFC North championship and punch a ticket to the playoffs.
Similarly, the Packers also control their own fate following their improbable comeback win over the Cowboys on Sunday. Green Bay plays the Steelers next week before the Week 17 showdown with the Bears, a game that could be a battle for the division title.
