Alshon Jeffery is not the only recent Bears draft choice to be accorded all-star honors. Rookie guard Kyle Long was selected by ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper to Mel’s all-rookie team, with the note: 

Had his struggles early, particularly with pass protection, but continued to get better. A solid year overall.

Long finished just behind Detroit guard Larry Warford in Kiper’s ranking. Warford, selected in the third round, was the next guard taken after the Bears moved to grab Long at No. 20 in the first found.
