Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton was charged with misdemeanor assault and public intoxication after being arrested early Sunday morning while at a sports bar in Grapevine, Texas according to ESPN.com. Melton was bonded out of jail shortly after 9 a.m.

Melton was arrested after he “became belligerent with some of the staff members of the restaurant.” After being asked to leave and in the process of being escorted from the premises, he struck one of the staff members said a police sergeant. But according to Melton's agent, the situation went differently. Melton will have to appear in court for all charges.

After sustaining an ACL injury in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Melton was sidelined for the rest of the season. The Chicago Bears will have to decide on whether to re-sign him in the offseason.
