A new Bears season, a new round of quotes from the always colorful Martellus Bennett.

And it didn't take long for the Bears tight end to receive laughs from the media covering the first day of minicamp.

Bennett, who set career-highs in 2013 with 65 receptions for 759 yards and five touchdowns, said he stayed busy this offseason getting in shape...because that's what the offseason is for.

"That's what the offseason is really about, is to get sexier in your uniform for the season. I might be one pants size smaller this year, which the ladies might love when I'm running down the seam," Bennett said, drawing chuckles from the media. "A tight end with a tight end."

But Bennett has also been busy this offseason dealing with a new position in life: father.

His daughter, Austin Jet Rose Bennett, was born March 15, and he got serious when speaking about the love he had for her the first time he saw her.

"I think it's just something that naturally clicks once the baby is born. Once you see your daughter for the first time, that's why I think people believe in love at first sight because as soon as you see here it's like you love her. You don't know anything about her, all you know is you just love her. It's an abundance of love that you can't really explain.

"It's very special and it's something I hope everyone gets a chance to do in life, be a father. It's been a blessing so far."
