Devin Hester confirmed on Wednesday that the Bears are moving on without him as their prime returner of kickoffs and punts. But he may still be playing in Soldier Field in 2014.
Hester said on NFL Network that, “From my knowledge, I know that Chicago wants to go a different route with me. All I can say is thanks to the fans and the support; always been great to me, always been loyal.”
He said he would like to retire as a Bear. But that won’t be in 2014 and this season could see him returning to Soldier Field as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on the home schedule of the Bears. Former Bears coach Lovie Smith
“Tampa, I look at Lovie as my number one coach right now because he’s the one that took a chance on me coming out of the draft,” Hester said. “He has all of my respect so if he’s a guy that is going to shoot at me and want me to come play with him again, my arms are open.”
