The Bears signed quarterback Trent Edwards to a one-year deal on Sunday, filling out a depth chart that lost Matt Blanchard for the preseason to a fractured knuckle.
Edwards started 33 games in four years with Buffalo, completing 60.9 percent of his passes for 5,739 yards with 26 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. The third-round pick out of Stanford in 2007 also has had stops in Jacksonville (26-49, 280 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT) and Philadelphia (2-2, 14 yards), and was with Oakland during training camp in 2011.
On Saturday, the Bears signed Jordan Palmer to help fill out the depth chart as well.
The Bears also waived wide receiver Jerrell Jackson on Sunday.
