With the Bears needing depth in the secondary after placing Charles Tillman on the IR with a triceps injury the team held a tryout at Halas Hall.
As a result of the audition, the Bears signed safety Derrick Martin to a one-year contract.
The 28-year-old Martin appeared in two preseason games with the Bears, registering one tackle.
Martin has appeared in 66 games throughout his seven-year career with the Baltimore Ravens, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants and New England Patriots. He's recorded 37 tackles, three interceptions, one sack and a fumble recovery.
Martin was part of back-to-back Super Bowl winning teams with the Packers (2010) and Giants (2011).
After four years at the University of Wyoming, he was selected in the sixth-round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Ravens.
