Detroit Lions Vice Chairman Bill Ford labeled the Bears “thugs” in dinner remarks on Tuesday night. Whether Ford was kidding or whether the characterization was accurate, at least one of the thugs liked hearing the diss.

“We’re far from it,” cornerback Tim Jennings said. “I wish we were.

“If that’s the case I guess we could take it as a good thing.  Now we finally, we’re tougher than we thought we were. People are realizing that. So if he wants to call us thugs, we can take that as a compliment.”

Considering that the Bears have the fourth-fewest penalties in the NFL through four games, maybe they need to nasty up.

“We like to think we’re playing nasty, but we play within the rules, y’know,” Jennings said. “I don’t know whether he’s just meaning we’re dirty or we’re just a nasty defense. We weren’t too nasty when we played them, so I don’t know what he’s trying to get out of it.”
