The Bears got busy Monday evening, making a handful of special teams-related moves that provided some clarity on position battles.
Punter Tress Way, who had struggled mightily through two preseason games, was released, leaving sixth-round draft pick Patrick O'Donnell as the only remaining punter on the team.
Days after releasing Eric Weems, the Bears also signed return specialist Darius Reynaud, who most recently appeared with the Jets in 2013. In 2012, Reynaud led the NFL in total kick return yards and scored three special teams touchdowns.
The Bears also released long snapper Chad Rempel, meaning Brandon Hartson will be the replacement for Patrick Mannelly, who retired this offseason after 16 seasons at the position in Chicago.
