Last week Martellus Bennett likened head coach Marc Trestman to Willy Wonka, the fictional character who runs the world's greatest chocolate factory.
"If you really look at Coach, he's a genius. And a lot of times when you're around really, really smart people, you don't really understand them. I thought Willy Wonka was brilliant," the always colorful Bennett said last Friday. "I mean, he had all kinds of candy. Who doesn't like chocolate and candies? Everybody wanted a Gobstopper. Ya know? I just think he's brilliant."
On his way to Detroit today, Bennett watched the movie for the first time and came away impressed.
Just finished watching Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, on the plane. Love it.— Martellus Bennett (@MartysaurusRex) September 28, 2013
It's not apparent whether he watched the original (and better) 1971 version with Gene Wilder named Willie Wonka & The Chocolate Factory or the 2005 version with Johnny Depp, titled Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but either way he got to see the man he related to Trestman in a whole new light.
