Camping out: Bears dialing up competition for OL roster spots

Three-fifths of the offensive line was “off” on Wednesday, with tackle Jordan Mills being held out by the training staff to give his surgically repaired right foot a rest. Mills had been working at his customary right-tackle spot through OTA’s. Guards Kyle Long and Matt Slauson were in jerseys but not taking snaps.

Eben Britton, the swing tackle last season, worked at right tackle Wednesday after spending time previously at guard. Rookie Michael Ola, who had been at tackle with the No. 2 offense, slid in at right guard with the 1’s.

The defense produced impact plays on Wednesday. Cornerback Demontre Hurst picked off a pass that was bobbled away by wideout Armanti Edwards and returned it for a touchdown, then followed that with a pass deflection later in practice. Cornerback Al Louis-Jean intercepted a pass in the red zone.
