The next time you're in Jewel-Osco, Mariano's or other Chicago area convenience stores, head down the meat aisle and look for "Ditka Sausage."

Chicago Bears legend and hall of famer Mike Ditka and Vienna Beef have teamed up to make a new line of sausage that is offered throughout Chicago and in select restaurants nationwide, including Ditka's Steakhouses.

"These sausages embody Chicago. The tradition, the teams, the fans, the big appetites," Ditka said in a news release. "Chicago deserves a monster sausage they can be proud of."

Coach Ditka's 8-inch, 1/3 pound sausage is sold in packs of two or five-pound cases (15 sausages per case) and is available in two different different flavors, hot beef Polish sausage and chicken sausage with mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes.

"Coach Ditka and his name are universally recognized and conjure up vivid images, including the 'Saturday Night Live' sketches featuring Ditka-worshiping Super Fans and their Polish sausage cravings," Tom McGlade, head of business development for Vienna Beef, said in a statement. "Pairing Ditka with Vienna Beef in one delicious sausage — we couldn't possibly fit more Chicago tradition into one product."

"Ditka's Sausage" will also be available at several independent golf courses within the Chicago area.
