It's no surprise the Seahawks are the favorites to repeat in 2015, but Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio believes there is a second team right behind Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherman.
"I think we'll see another arms race between Seattle and San Francisco as they try and outdo each other to try to prepare for the two games they definitely will play against each other," Florio told David Kaplan on SportsTalk Live. "Until further notice, it's Seahawks and 49ers."
As for the Bears, Florio believes there's potential in Chicago because of a stout offense and a head coach in Marc Trestman who has the franchise heading in the right direction. Still, with Jay Cutler's contract beginning this season it'll be tough for them to have much flexibility to fix a defense that ranked 32nd in the NFL last year.
"They had so many injuries. If they can stay healthy maybe they can be a lot better, but a lot is to be determined," Florio said of the Bears. "The challenge will be to make those cap dollars last as long as possible, especially when $22.5 million in cap space is devoted to Jay Cutler.
"The best news for the Bears, as of right now they're not in one of the better divisions in the NFL so they could be competitive for a playoff berth but that could mean an inevitable loss to the 49ers or Seahawks in the playoffs."
