Matt Forte is back on the football field, but this time as a coach and mentor.
The Bears running back and Muscle Milk athlete teamed up with the Muscle Milk Recovery Grant Program to serve as an honorary coach during a Frederick Douglass Academy football team practice on Monday.
The practice was held at Hanson Stadium in Chicago. Forte provided coaching tips, helped lead drills and surprised the team with additional football equipment.
Also, Forte believes receiving a quality education is very important for the young student-athletes.
“When I got my education through Tulane University, it made me realize the importance of education,” Forte said. “To better yourself and further your education is very important in life. I think it creates a better person and you are able to do more things with your life.”
The Frederick Douglass Academy football program was one of 22 schools selected to receive a grant during last year's Muscle Milk Recovery Grant Program which provided $250,000 to high school athletic programs in need around the country. The event showed how the team has used its grant to upgrade equipment, uniforms and school spirit.
