Hall vs. Cutler II: 'We can definitely make some plays'

The last time Jay Cutler faced DeAngelo Hall, the Washington cornerback was catching just about as many of Cutler’s passes (four) as the leading Bears receiver (Johnny Knox, six) that day in 2010.

Cutler, in what appeared to be a fit of pique, remarked afterwards, “If we played them tomorrow, I’d go at him every time if we could.”

Hall liked that idea, via Redskins.com: "You know, if I had to play Jay Cutler every single week, man, I'd be in the Hall of Fame."

That was then, this is week seven of 2013 (coincidentally, the same week as when the two met in 2010) and any war of words has long since subsided.

Mostly.

Cutler didn’t find any humor in questions about Hall. “Another player,” he said. “Ya know?”

As far a flashbacks or flash-forwards to next Sunday? “Nope.”

Hall took no offense at being called just “another player” and seconded Cutler’s answer.

“What kind of answer do want him to say?” Hall challenged. “I don’t know what you want Jay to say: ‘Oh my god, I’m scared of this guy?’ I don’t know what you want him to say besides, hey, ‘He’s another guy.’

“Whether he believes that in his heart of not, that’s what he had to say: ‘I’m another guy.’ He’s gone against some great corners in this league. I’m not probably the best guy he’s every gone against.”

But if Cutler clearly is not overly vexed at the prospect of going against Hall, the Washington DB is anything but troubled by the specter of a vastly improved Bears offense from the Mike Martz iteration of back then.

“We feel like we can definitely make some plays against those guys,” Hall said. “It will definitely be a tough challenge for us Sunday, but we definitely are looking forward to it.”
