While signs pointed to a return to the starting lineup for quarterback Jay Cutler, they were considerably less encouraging for linebacker Lance Briggs, still not back from a fractured shoulder suffered in the Oct. 20 game at Washington.
Briggs has done some running but no real practicing or hitting and he remains only “week-to-week” according to coach Marc Trestman.

At least for the Cleveland game on Sunday, “I’m not optimistic but again, after today we’ll know a little bit more and tomorrow we’ll see where he is,” Trestman said. “He did some running last week. Will that be upgraded to some limited work in practice? We won’t be in pads on Thursday; we’ll be in shells. But he was not in shells last week. We’ll see what the trainers want to do and what he wants to do tomorrow.
“It’s just the healing of the bone and where that is right now.”
