Alshon Jeffery had a dubious distinction that he would rather avoid in 2014: He had five games with 100 or more receiving yards, two of them with more than 200, and the Bears lost all five games.
But the second-year wide receiver’s season total of 1,421 was good for sixth in the NFL for 2013, and his 89 receptions were the sixth-highest total in franchise history and 10th in the NFL last season.
All of that was enough for his peers to vote Jeffery in at No. 54 on NFL Network’s “Top 100” as voted on by current players. He joins newcomer Jared Allen (68), Tim Jennings (74) and Matt Forte (91) among the first 50 players revealed.
