Despite earlier reports, the NFL will now allow Bears receiver Brandon Marshall to wear green shoes for Thursday night's game against the New York Giants.

According to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio, the league will allow Marshall to play in the green shoes, but will be fined later, a scenario the All-Pro wideout was planning for Tuesday.

As late as Wednesday morning, Marshall thought that he would not be permitted on the field wearing the green shoes he planned as a way to call attention to Mental Health Awareness Week, which began last Sunday and runs through Saturday.

The league last year had threatened teammate Earl Bennett with ejection if he wore orange shoes out for a game.

Marshall plans to match the fine with a donation to charity.
