Maybe it’s just a simple case of being able to dish it out but not real good at taking it.

Bill Ford Jr. has never particularly chastised his own team and players like Ndamukong Suh for miscreant behavior before and after whistles but the Detroit Lions chairman and coach Jim Schwartz are simply not pleased at the way the Bears treated their Lions on Sunday.

Ford called the Bears a “bunch of thugs” at the Lions’ 20th Courage House dinner Tuesday night, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

“It was really alive, and it was alive when we played those same bunch of thugs on Monday Night a couple [years ago],” Ford said. “When this place gets going it’s electric and we do have wonderful fans. Our fans are amazing and we would love to pay them back and bring home a winner, and I love the way this team is playing right now.”

Lions PR assured Birkett that Ford was just joshin’.

This comes a day after Schwartz railed about what he saw as Bears rookie Jon Bostic spearing Kris Durham as the Lions receiver was covering an onside kick at the end of Sunday’s game. And he thought the officials also missed endless holding penalties on the Bears’ offensive line.

“I can’t believe we didn’t get about a hundred holding penalties against them today,” Schwartz said.
